Young Westley to represent SA in martial arts in Ireland
This driven, dedicated and talented kickboxer earned numerous South African titles.
WESTLEY van der Walt, a second Dan junior, has been selected for the WMO South African National Martial Arts Team to participate in the WMO World Championship in Dublin, Ireland from October 8-16.
The 16-year-old teen will represent South Africa and was also chosen as the junior captain of the national team.
Westley has been doing kickboxing since 2011 and has been a student of the Glen Marais dojo, headed up by Shihan Danie du Plessis (10th Dan). Du Plessis, who has been coaching for 37 years, has been the youngster’s coach and mentor.
This driven, dedicated and talented kickboxer earned numerous South African titles during the years and received his first world title in 2016 when he participated in the World Martial Arts Games (WMAG) where he earned two gold medals for various divisions.
