Local coach gives soccer training for aspiring soccer players
Kids can lead better lives through soccer
KEMPTON Park soccer coach, Olajide Arigbabu, has taken it upon himself to give young aspiring soccer players a new lease on life by training them.
According to Arigbabu (42), the purpose of the project is to help the youngsters stay away from the streets and develop better morale.
He also says this will be an opportunity for those who want to make the sport a career.
The skills development training will be held at Kempton Park Football Club during October through his organisation, Elite Soccer Development, which has been discovering raw talent for 17 years.
Olajide, who hails from Nigeria, immigrated to South Africa in 2010 and works as a barber for his day job. He says his heart is filled with love for football.
“This development will discover talented soccer players and potential soccer stars. This is a programme that aims to help soccer kids.
“And the focus of the programme will be on giving them the skills and ability to help them become proficient athletes in future,” Olajide said.
Olajide said he started the programme because there are too many kids who are wasting their lives away. He said his initiative will help give them guidance to lead better lives.
“We have kids all over the streets who have fallen prey to many social ills, such as crime, drugs and bad behaviour. “
