Young coach wants to develop football among youngsters
Young coach to achieve more in many years to come.
Who said soccer is for entertainment only? Besides, football can connect people from different locations.
One of the activities in football is exercise. I started to adore football at the age of 10 when I was at primary school.
“Football can teach someone to be a leader as well,” said coach Christopher Maphothoma from Tlama Tlama section.
Maphothoma said a love of soccer helped him to become a football coach. He said he was encouraged by his family to participate in football.

“I studied sports science at the University of Pretoria where I obtained a D license from SAFA. I also hold a certificate at the Exercise Teachers Academy for football coaching,” said Maphothoma.
The young coach said soccer took boys off the streets and made them friends on the field.
He said football indulges both men and women to contribute to the economy of the country.
“I take instructions under my beloved coach Jabulani Mthanyelo who taught me how to handle young boys.
“Coaching is very challenging especially when you come from a township,” said Maphothoma.

He said creating relationships amongst the players is very crucial for the team as well.
“I wish to see these young boys play for the professional teams in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). I strongly believe in development, so these young boys need us to develop them and make them compete with other teams from outside Tembisa.”
He said his role model is assistant coach of Orland Pirates Rhulani Mokoena.
“Mokoena’s techniques inspired me a lot. Some of the young stars on the field call me coach Mokoena.”
Maphothoma said the young talented soccer players need more support from their parents.
