There was excitement and jubilation at Moses Molelekwa Arts Centre when hundreds of people participated in the sixth edition of the TomTom Tembisa Street Mile and 10km race.

The TomTom Tembisa Mile and 10km race started and finished at Moses Molelekwa Arts Centre on October 29.
Speaking to the founder and organiser of the Tembisa Street Mile, Madumetja Donald Mathipa said he was thrilled by the turnout of athletes at this year’s competition.
“Local athletic clubs in and around Tembisa and individual athletes responded extremely well to the competition. I realised people want to compete where there are more prizes – specifically cash. In next year’s edition, I will have to work hard to ensure that winners will go home with at least R10 000 as the cash prize including medals, and also find sponsors for the T-shirts. All participants should get T-shirts,” added Mathipa.

Mathipa said he was elated by the support from the sponsors which included TomTom SA, Spar North Rand, City of Ekurhuleni Sports and Recreation Division, LESO Estates and M&M Marketing, for making the TomTom Tembisa Street Mile and 10km Race the success it was. He is looking forward to their continued support as this is an annual event.
Mathipa expressed his gratitude to the team he worked with for the tireless efforts in co-ordinating and realising such a successful event.
