Join local training run for Comrades in April

The race on April 27 will be the fourth annual long-run hosted by TPT and attracts at least 200 athletes.

Tshwarano Running Club (TPT) will host a 55km run in preparation for the Comrades Marathon, starting at Barnard Stadium on April 27.

Runners will leave the stadium at 6.30am.

Kempton Park-based TPT was founded in December 2013 and does most of its training at Barnard Stadium.

“The club is centred on providing a platform for training athletes who belong to different running clubs,” said Sylvester Molusi, chairperson of the club.

“Based on the principle of promoting a healthy lifestyle, we accommodate all categories of athletes from juniors to masters. TPT’s main focus across the country is developing and helping athletes to achieve their best performances in different distances from track to field, cross-country and road running.

“TPT is a feeding training camp for the Nedbank Running Club and the Nedbank Green Dream Team,” he said.

The race on April 27 will be the fourth annual long-run hosted by TPT and attracts at least 200 athletes.

The registration fee is R120 to assist with providing water, cool drinks, oranges, bananas and other snacks at water points every 3km.

T-shirts will be given to the first 150 runners to register. Call Rose on 079 885 0448 or Sylvester on 082 392 4669.
