Luck United celebrates their victory against the New Generations
Luck United celebrated their 3-1 victory over New Generations in the Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) league clash at the Square Two Grounds on Saturday.
The two rivals locked horns in their second round league clash.
New Generations sought to redeem themselves from their first round loss of 4-3 against Luck United.
The game started on fire. Luck United striker got a breakthrough goal in the 25th minute which was ruled offside.
United’s coach Sakhi Nthite said the first half was hard fought.
“We had to go all out against them. I told my boys to continue playing with determination.

“My boys were self-motivated, fighting to elevate themselves from position six on log standings, they knew what to do,” said Nthite.
United dominated the first half. However, they created few chances and also missed to capitalise on a big chance with New Generations defender defending well on the goal line. New Generations fired back but the goal was ruled offside before United clinched their first goal from a set piece header by Rooney Ledwaba to make half time score 1-0.
The second half kicked started with New Generations changing their play and trying to create chances with a one-on-one combination. But this fizzled out. United tried to close the space and pushed forward to get their second goal. The New Generations goalkeeper collided with his teammate creating an opportunity for Themba to make it 2-0 for United. But Keletso broke United’s dominace and reduced the deficit in the 68th minute to make the score 2-1.
New Generations coach Mgeyi Sthangu said his players were on equal terms with their opponents in the first half. However, they were unfortunate to lose the game.
United’s vice-captain Andrew Semenya said his side used their experience to their advantage to win “because most of our players have played in semi-professional ranks”.
“We were hoping to collect three points which we did and we have the next match to focus on,” said Semenya.
United picked up three points before their next match against Valentino. The last goal came in the 88th minute from a long range volley by Cooper.
