Terenure champion (48) bags two national martial arts titles

The former police officer is now the South African Full Contact Martial Arts Champion.

Terenure resident and martial artist Jaques Dicks (48) is not one to mess with.

The former police officer, who now works for himself, walked away with two gold medals at the Full Contact Martial Arts National Championship on April 5-6. Around 440 athletes from across South Africa gathered in Kempton Park for the event.

Dicks’ skills in the male super vets division did not disappoint. He is now the South African Full Contact Martial Arts Champion in both the continuous and points divisions.

Guests of honour who most likely witnessed Dicks’ triumph over his competitors included South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee vice-president Barry Hendricks and secretary general Gauteng Sports Confederation Yaseen Lombard.
