Spain FC crowned champions of Powerico Winter Games

The team pocketed R110 000 as champions of the 2019 Powerico Winter Games

On July 28, Powerico Winter Games crowned Spain FC as champions of the 2019 edition.

Spain FC emerged victorious after beating Team of Choice 4-2 on penalties.

Thabo Komape, Spain FC coach, said he is vindicated as he predicted in the last interview with the Tembisan that Spain FC is taking home the first prize.

The team pocketed R110 000 as champions of the 2019 Powerico Winter Games. The team received 25 gold medals, new soccer gear and the R110 000.

“With this money we will spoil our boys and take them on vacation to show them gratitude for the hard work throughout the tournament. In the entire tournament we conceded only one goal and made sure that we score a goal in every game we played, that worked for us. We are now a famous team in Tembisa and looking forward to other big Tembisa soccer tournaments,” said the elated Komape.

MEC Panyaza Lesufi and the Powerico team congratulate Spain FC on their win.

He also commended Powerico Winter Games’ organising team for their sterling job.

Organising member Rangwane Jayjay thanked all Tembisa residents for their support until the end of the tournament.

“This is very good for the development of soccer in Tembisa. We thank all the media for covering our tournament, and our sponsors, especially Coca-Cola,” Jayjay said.

Founder of the tournament Power Makhura gave special thanks to Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi for putting his weight behind the initiative to keep children off the streets.

“This is our third edition and everyone can witness that Powerico Winter Games are growing. We ensure our supporters that next year the tournament will be bigger and better,” Makhura said.
