Lions of the North to tame Students at Makhulong Stadium

Students enter the slaughter house.

The Lions of the North, Highlands Park, will entertain the Students, Bidvest Wits, on November 26 at the Makhulong Stadium in an Absa Premiership League clash.

The spokesperson for the home team, Sibonelo Ngidi, has appealed for all Highlands Park fans to come in their numbers in their quest to tame the Students.

He made this appeal following his team’s unsatisfactory run in their last three outings where they lost two games in a row and drew one.

The home team lost against Maritzburg United via penalties in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals and lost 3-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic.

They were held to a goalless draw against Stellenbosch FC this past Saturday.

“We really need our supporters to rally behind the team as we take on one of the stubborn and on-form opponents in the form of Bidvest Wits.

“We need that extra 12th player on the stands to give the team on the field support,” appealed Ngidi.

Even though the home team has dropped four points in their last two games, it remains within the top eight bracket of the log standing.

Owen Da Gama’s boys are comfortably seated in position six with 15 points. They are tied on points with their next opponents, Bidvest Wits, who are occupying the fifth spot also with 15 points.

“We all know that it is not easy to go to the Bidvest Wits Stadium and come out alive, and so, we need to make sure that they don’t come out of our slaughter house alive either. The only way we would be able to do this is only if our supporters and the entire community of Tembisa fill the Makhulong Stadium and are in full support of the team,” added Ngidi.

Coach Da Gama will be spoilt for choice as most of his players are available for selection.

Players such as Rodney Ramagalela, Limbikani Mzava, Peter Shalulile and Marlon Heugh are back in the team and had a run on Saturday against Stellenbosch FC.

The game starts at 7.30pm.
