Tembisa Wiser Ball team takes the trophy

Wiser-Ball is an international sport for everyone that is played by seven members per team

Locus Wiser Ball team has just written their names in the history books by becoming the third ever Tembisa based team to be crowned champions of this new sport.

The Loucos outfits were crowned on Saturday during the Wiser Ball League finals held on Saturday at the Ivory Park 2 Sport Grounds.

The Tembisa league consisted of eight participating teams who pulled out a brave fight for the number one spot, but it was the Ebony Park based, Locus who emerged victors and got to be crowned new champions. Last season’s champions, Hlonipa finished second with PYO finishing third.

Wiser-Ball is an international sport for everyone that is played by seven members per team, making up a total of 14 people per game.

This kind of sport was first introduced to South Africa in September 2017, by the Chairman of South African Wiser Ball committee Thomas Wong, with the help of Thapelo Semenya, with the aim of bridging the generation gap through sport.

“One of the best ways to bring together a community is with an activity that allows the involvement of everyone. With the help of Minigood South Africa,

a retail store in Cedar Square Fourways and Simplex Legal Advisory, a law firm from Sandton, the final league match was a great success,” said one of the

organisers, Thapelo Semenya.

Minigood and Simplex Legal Advisory sponsored the event with goodie bags for all the participants.

“Wiser-Ball is an international sport where strategy and exercise are combined, and motion and stillness vie with each other. Playing Wiser-Ball not only

builds physical strength but also develops wisdom and brainpower,” said Semenya.
