Highlands Park appeals for Tembisans’ support
These poor results have since seen the home team dropping further down to the ninth spot
Highlands Park spokesperson Sibonelo Ngidi has appealed to the teams’ supporters to be patient and always rally behind the team.
Ngidi made this appeal following the team’s unsatisfactory results since the Absa premiership second round kick-started early this month.
Highlands Park have managed only one win out of the four games played so far. They have lost 3-1 to both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. The biggest upset though was the 4-1 defeat at the hands of newcomers, Stellenbosch FC.
These poor results have since seen the home team dropping further down to the ninth spot on the table with 23 points.
“Things are not going accordingly at the moment, as we have been found giving away valuable points. But this is just a spell and it will pass. All we need right now is to get each and every supporter of the team to rally behind and stop pointing fingers. If there was a time the team needed its supporters, it is now. So please, don’t turn your backs on the team just because of these results,” pleaded Ngidi.
He said he believes the team will bounce back and will start winning games again.
“We are pleased with the two weeks break because it will give the entire team time to re-strategise and work on a winning formula. There’s no reason to panic because the happy days are upon us and we will find our scoring boots and start winning again,” said Ngidi.
The journey to redemption begins in two weeks’ time when the Lions of the North host the Limpopo-based side, Baroka FC, at the Makhulong Stadium.
Even though the home team is eyeing all three points from this encounter, it’s not going to be an easy ride as Baroka are currently trailing on position 13 with 17 points. They are also looking for maximum points to help them out of the relegation zone.
