Three good Samaritans – Sam Motsenwa, John Mogwane and Mary Nkademeng – gave Thembisa golfers a refreshing start to 2020 when they sponsored a golf tournament at the Ebuhleni Golf Course.
Nkadimeng also sponsored the prize-giving ceremony by availing her tavern and provided drinks and foods to participants and all in attendance.
The tournament attracted 28 hopefuls all vying for the floating trophy and the Top 8 prizes.
After nine holes, it was left to Chris Magabe, Ayanda Jaco, Delight Moyo, George Mokela and Fanie Marais to fight it out for that top spot.
At some point the ever-performing and hard-to-beat Jaco looked like he was staging a great comeback as he trailed the likes of Moyo, Tinashe
Nyiko and Magabe only to falter and settle for the second spot after the final 18 holes.
Nyiko and Moyo proved too hard to crack as the two golfers struck the golf ball with such awe, with Nyiko emerging the overall winner on the day.
Jaco settled for the second spot, followed by Moyo.
Whitey Rathokoane and George Mokela proved once again why they are such feared competitors as they also finished in the top eight.
James Mdidimba, who is tournament and Ebuhleni Golf Course caretaker, said the trio has come to the party just at the right time when they were really needed by the golfers.
“We are looking forward to yet another successful sponsorship for this event next year and hope that the three good Samaritans will come on board again,” Mdidimba said.
