Forty-one teams from across the combined Gauteng area took part.
The ESP Piranhas swam themselves to glory at the recent Level 1 regionals at the Hillcrest Pool in Pretoria.
The 13 Piranha swimmers were not only the overall winners but also lifted the trophy for the highest average score per swimmer (116.93).
Forty-one teams from across the combined Gauteng area took part. The Piranhas scored 1 520 points.
Swimmers from three training squads (Aquatic Academy, Tigers and Debbie Mcgee) combined their efforts behind the ESP Piranhas to win this gala.
Danika Brechenmacher was the squad’s top performer with 164 points on the scoreboard, claiming six gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Second was Adam Maule with 150 points and three gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
Mogale Kgaswe added 128 points with three golds, two silvers and one bronze to his name.
Oratile Ndawo (one gold, one silver, four bronzes) and Kaitlyn Immelman (three golds, three bronzes) both scored 126.
The ESP committee decided to give the swimmers a motivational shirt for each level the Piranhas compete in. The message to the level 1 team was ‘Unstoppable. Every Start. Every Turn. Every Finish’.
