Fighters from the IFSO Glen Marais were selected for the Gauteng team after taking part in the Full Contact Martial Arts (FCMA) Championship.

Fighters from IFSO Glen Marais were selected for the Gauteng team after taking part in the Full Contact Martial Arts (FCMA) Championship recently held at the Kempton Park Indoor Sports Centre.
The nine fighters who were selected for the Ekurhuleni kickboxing team took centre stage, as they were once more selected to represent the Gauteng team at the South African Kickboxing Championships in Mossel Bay.
The fighters, who are medallists in the points fighting and light continuous categories, will be expected to again spar for the top spot from May 12 to 15.
They will also participate against other provinces during the year.
The fighters were George van der Westhuizen, Keagan Norman, Duncan Viljoen, Mikayla Humphris, Westley van der Walt, Sybrandt van Niekerk, Brittany Crocker, Magda van Niekerk and Dirk Theunisen.
Magda van Niekerk said the team is humbled by the selection and that it is the motivation for them to work even harder.
“It is a privilege and honour to take part in such a prestigious event. We are all excited and look forward to the SAs and seeing everybody from the kickboxing community. Especially if you consider everything that has been happening in the past two years.
“We are all training very hard and helping each other to achieve our full potential. We are hoping for a lot of medals and a lot of South African champions,” said van Niekerk.
