Girl power at 011 Skatepark

Female skaters from around Gauteng at attended the event.

Girls Skate South Africa gathered at the 011 Skatepark in Edenvale on June 12, for the latest instalment of the organisation’s social events.
The event was aimed at female skaters and gave them a safe space to get to know the skating scene while making friends.

Skaters at any level were welcome at the event, while boards and safety gear were made available to those at the event.
Girls Skate hosts regular programmes and classes directed toward female skaters – to give them the tools and space to grow their skills.
The goal of Girls Skate is to make the brand synonymous with skateboarding among female and LGBTQIA+ skateboarders nationally.
In addition, the organisation collects second-hand boards and gear from around South Africa to hand out to children who need boards and anything skate-related.
As an organisation Girls Skate hopes to see skateboarding used as a tool to assist in building stronger communities through responsible development.
