South African angling team makes history
South African team won gold in all three days while participating in Australia.
The South African freshwater angling team made history when they participated in a thrilling test series in Australia at the end of last year.
The tournament, held at Blowering Dam, featured teams from South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
The South African team dominated the competition, securing gold medals on all three days.

In the individual standings, Dirk Koekemoer and Danie Levi took first and second place respectively.
Team manager Herman Havenga highlighted the significance of the tournament, noting that it built on the success of previous competitions.
These included the 2019 World Games at Leeuplaas, Vaaldam, where Australia’s senior team participated and the 2022 test series at Bloemhof Dam’s Sloep, which featured Australia, South Africa, and Namibia.
“The tournament was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we had a wonderful time. Winning in another country was an achievement of note,” said Koekemoer.
