Winnie Mandela United FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Yebo Yes FC in their latest match.
The team’s performance was a significant improvement from their previous game against Destroyers FC, during which they were defeated 2-0.

The loss served as a wake-up call, motivating the team to push themselves harder in their March 15 match.

The team’s strategy relies heavily on both offensive and defensive tactics, allowing them to counter the opposition’s pressing game.

“At Winnie Mandela United FC, we play methodically and strategically, observing the pressure from our opponents while staying relaxed and looking for patterns,” said one of the players.

“Good communication between players and the technical staff is key to our success. Every player must be able to communicate effectively with their teammates.”

The team believes there is always room for improvement.

“We could have done better, but we are constantly working on improving teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. We support each other, celebrate together, and always look for ways to grow as a team,” the player continued.

“This win is a huge morale booster for us. It builds confidence, and self-esteem, and reinforces positive behaviour within the team.”

Looking ahead, the team aims to maintain respect and accountability among players, with a focus on adaptability and support for one another.

Communication has been identified as a key area for improvement, as the team believes it can be a barrier to their success.

“Our coach is always working on identifying problems faced by players and helping us improve them for the sake of the team’s reputation and the players’ well-being,” said the player.

“Football is about accepting wins and losses and learning from each experience.”

Coach Andries ‘Buuda’ Pilusa emphasised the importance of communication, collaboration, and adaptability.

“Every game teaches us something valuable. We are learning how to respect our opponents, overcome challenges, and promote good sportsmanship,” he said.
