Laerskool Kruinsig edge out Edleen in thrilling U12B clash

Laerskool Kruinsig wins by a slight chance.

Schools, players, and parents came together at Laerskool Kruinsig for a two-day 7’s & Fast 5 Tournament.

On September 27, Kruinsig faced Laerskool Edleen in an intense U12B match, with both sides vying for a spot in the finals.

Kruinsig dominated from the start, putting pressure on Edleen’s defence.

Despite their efforts, Edleen struggled to contain Kruinsig’s attacks but managed to score a few points, keeping the game competitive. By halftime, Kruinsig led 6-3.

“Honestly, the girls fought hard. They worked really hard, and I couldn’t be prouder of my team. The competition is tight, and all the teams are strong. It’s a tough tournament, and everyone has given their best,” said Kruinsig U12 coach Suné McCabe.

In the second half, Edleen mounted a comeback, scoring their fourth goal early and adjusting their defensive strategy to challenge the hosts. The match became fiercely contested as Kruinsig tried to break through Edleen’s improved defence.

Edleen U12 head coach Stefnie Strauss praised both teams.

“The girls played very well. In the second half, they came back strongly, and I’m very proud of them. Kruinsig also played an excellent game. Both teams gave their all.”

Kruinsig managed to score their seventh goal, boosting their confidence, but Edleen fought back with two more points. Despite their efforts, Kruinsig held on to a narrow 7-6 victory, increasing their chances of reaching the finals.

Kruinsig player Minke Visagie reflected on the win: “I’m proud of my team. We fought hard until the end. Edleen played really well, but we did our best and secured the win. Everyone is competing for a spot in the first five, so we’re all giving our best.”
