Schools shine at Laerskool Kruinsig’s action-packed 7s and Fast 5 Tournament
Schools, players and parents gathered at Laerskool Kruinsig for a thrilling two-day 7s and Fast 5 Tournament on September 26 and 27.
Schools, players and parents came together at Laerskool Kruinsig for an exciting two-day 7s and Fast 5 Tournament on September 26 and 27, where teams competed in rugby and netball across various age groups.
Seven schools – Kruinsig, Brentwood Park, Baanbreker, Birchleigh, Edleen, Kreft and Rooihuiskraal – battled it out on the rugby fields, with teams divided into A and B sides for the different age categories.
On the netball courts, eight schools – Kruinsig, Brentwoodpark, Edleen, Kreft, Rooihuiskraal, Louis Leipoldt, Heidelberg Volkskool and Van Riebeeck Park Primary – went head-to-head for top honours.

The U11 netball category proved especially competitive, with teams giving their all until the very end.
Laerskool Edleen took first place and the gold medals, followed by hosts Laerskool Kruinsig in second place with silver, and Laerskool Kreft securing third and the bronze medals.
In the U12 netball division, Laerskool Van Riebeeck Park Primary emerged victorious, claiming gold. Laerskool Edleen finished second with silver, while Laerskool Kruinsig claimed bronze.

On the rugby side, Laerskool Kruinsig’s U12 A-team claimed first place, while Laerskool Rooihuiskraal’s U11 team also took top honours in their age group.

The Laerskool Rooihuiskraal U12 team and Laerskool Kruinsig U11A team both finished as plate winners in fifth place.
Laerskool Kruinsig acting principal Thora du Plessis expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the tournament.

“I am proud of the learners, the schools and their teams for their participation and achievements. A big thank you to Bossa Restaurant Glen Acres for sponsoring the day and making sure everyone was well fed,” said Du Plessis.
