Kempton cricket talent takes next big step

Rising local cricketer Aiden Wolmarans is taking the next step in his sporting journey after securing an opportunity to develop his skills at St John’s College in Houghton.

Local cricket talent Aiden Wolmarans is continuing his impressive rise in the sport after earning an opportunity to further his cricketing journey at St John’s College in Houghton.

Aiden, a former learner at Laerskool Kruinsig and a player at Avion Cricket Club, made his mark through strong performances that led him to be selected for Easterns cricket.

He was also part of the Laerskool Kruinsig team that clinched the Easterns Schools title in 2023, a highlight in his early cricket career.

His development continued when he moved to Hoërskool Kempton Park, where he came under the guidance of coach Johan Kierie Fourie.

Under Fourie’s mentorship, Aiden’s skills and game awareness grew significantly, helping him to take another step forward as a competitive cricketer.

Avion Cricket Club also played an important role in his progression, with coach Clint Coertse providing technical guidance and support on his club cricket journey.

Known in the Kempton community for his passion and commitment to cricket, Aiden has received the opportunity to join St John’s College, a school renowned for its sporting excellence.

He has already begun this new chapter, embracing the challenges and opportunities that come with competing at a higher level.

Aiden’s family is grateful to those who have played a role in his development, particularly Laerskool Kruinsig and coach Roekie, as well as Hoërskool Kempton Park and Johan Kierie Fourie, for their investment in his growth both on and off the field.

They also thanked St John’s College for opening this door for Aiden, noting that the school has already made a positive impact on his journey.
