2026 South African BMX Freestyle Championships on the cards
The 2026 South African BMX Freestyle Championships will take place at the Park Lines BMX Tournament on May 30, at the SkyLab Skatepark in Johannesburg. The 2026 South African BMX Freestyle Championships will take place at the Park Lines BMX Tournament on May 30, at the SkyLab Skatepark in Johannesburg.
The event, which will be open from 09:00 on the day, is free to attend for spectators and is presented by LW Mag and Dragon Energy, with Garmin, Insta360, Fox Racing and Mongoose as hosts.
Riders from across South Africa will compete for national honours in BMX Freestyle, with the competition showcasing creativity, technical skill and progression as athletes perform a variety of tricks and stunts in pursuit of championship points and prize money.

Park Lines will be hosted at the purpose-built SkyLab Skatepark at Jozi-X Adventure Park.
Invited riders will compete in the Pro Division, while emerging talent will also have the opportunity to showcase their skills in the Amateur Division.
The skatepark features a range of obstacles designed to encourage creative and technical riding.
Competitors will go through qualifying heats, with judges scoring performances based on use of the park, trick variation, style, difficulty and amplitude to determine who advances to the finals.
Pro Division riders will compete for a cash prize pool and prizes, including a Garmin Instinct 3 and additional sponsor rewards. Amateur riders will compete for a new Mongoose BMX bike along with other prizes.

The event will conclude with a Best Trick Competition, open to all riders, where competitors will attempt their most difficult tricks in a jam-style format. The winner will receive an Insta360 action camera.
Spectators are invited to attend free of charge to experience the action live.
The event is sanctioned by Cycling South Africa and the UCI, and is officially endorsed by Cycling South Africa.
Park Lines organiser Ryan van der Spuy said the event continues to grow as a platform for the sport’s development in South Africa.
“As one of our highlight events of the year, we’re excited to be back with the 2026 edition of Park Lines and to see who will be crowned the 2026 South African BMX Freestyle Champion,” he said.
He added that the event was created to support riders and grow the sport locally.
“Park Lines has grown from strength to strength and we are extremely proud of it. We can’t wait to see what 2026 and the future of this event hold.”
