Kempton Park Rovers secured their place in local football history after winning the Kempton Top Four tournament with back-to-back victories.

Rovers defeated Joburg All Stars 2-1 in the semi-final before producing a 3-1 victory over Ditau FC in the final to lift the trophy.

The tournament victory was built on attacking football, defensive discipline and a strong team effort from the opening whistle.

In the semi-final against Joburg All Stars, Rovers started with intensity and quickly took control of the match.

Forward Innocent Mabhena, affectionately known as Mabhena the Burner by coach Chris, played a key role in setting the tone for the team. Ali opened the scoring after finding space in the opposition defence and finishing clinically.

Mabhena then turned provider, delivering a well-timed pass to Daniel, known as Haaland among supporters, who doubled Rovers’ lead.

The attacking combination of Mabhena, Haaland and Ali continued to trouble the Joburg All Stars defence, while BK, Shaun, Musa and Kuda provided stability at the back.

In midfield, Peter ‘Petrovic’, Adeleki and Ramos worked tirelessly to control possession and dictate the pace of the game.

As the match progressed, Rovers’ depth was tested, with Tino, Khathu, Shoes, Tshiamo and Milo introduced from the bench to maintain the team’s momentum.

Joburg All Stars managed a late goal, but Rovers held on for a 2-1 victory to secure their place in the final.
The final saw Rovers face Ditau FC, a team that entered the match with confidence after winning the ABC Motsepe League Top 32 tournament the previous day.

Despite facing a strong opponent with experienced players, Rovers showed no signs of intimidation.
Peter “Petrovic” opened the scoring with a spectacular volley that gave Rovers the lead and proved to be one of the highlights of the tournament.

The match became increasingly tense as Ditau searched for an equaliser. After an offside decision, some Ditau players confronted match officials, according to Rovers.

Senior club figures Mdala Ndodana, Malaisha, Coach Ever, Nkosi and Chris intervened to calm the situation and encouraged the officials to continue with the match.

Rovers continued to focus on the game and extended their lead when Tshiamo played a defence-splitting pass to Ali, who rounded the goalkeeper and finished into an empty net.

Ditau responded with a penalty goal, setting up a tense final period.

Rovers then turned to experienced player Khathu, who made an immediate impact after coming off the bench.

He beat defenders before calmly finishing to restore Rovers’ two-goal advantage and seal the victory.

Goalkeeper Mdu also played a crucial role in the final, producing several important saves to deny Ditau and protect Rovers’ lead.

When the final whistle sounded, Rovers celebrated a 3-1 victory and the Kempton Top Four title.
The club said the achievement was a reward for months of hard work from the players, coaching staff and supporters.

For Rovers, the tournament victory represents more than silverware. The club believes it marks the beginning of a new chapter for Kempton Park football, with a combination of young talent, experienced players and strong community support driving its ambitions for the future.
