Laerskool Impala star earns Gauteng U12 netball selection
Lente van der Westhuizen has been selected for the Gauteng U12 netball team after progressing through a highly competitive trial process.
Laerskool Impala netball player Lente van der Westhuizen has been selected for the Gauteng U12 Netball team, placing her among the top young talents in the province.
Van der Westhuizen is one of 20 players representing Gauteng U12 at EG Jansen from June 27 to July 2.
The achievement is the result of hard work, dedication and perseverance.
Despite facing challenges along the way, she remained committed and focused on her goals.

“I feel incredibly honoured and privileged to have been selected for the Gauteng netball team. Out of all the talented players in Gauteng, only 20 were chosen and I am proud to be one of them,” Van der Westhuizen said.
Laerskool Impala has played a significant role in her development. She credited her coaches, teachers and teammates for their support and encouragement throughout her journey, helping her grow into the player she is today.
She also expressed gratitude to her parents for their love and support.
“To my parents, thank you for your love and support and for giving me the opportunity to grow. I am excited for the opportunity to represent both Gauteng and Laerskool Impala.

“I look forward to learning from the experience, giving my best on the court and making everyone proud,” she added.
Van der Westhuizen’s pathway to provincial selection included a highly competitive process. She progressed from the school’s A-team to town trials, where seven players were selected for Kempton Schools representation.
She then advanced through district trials, where two teams of 14 players were chosen from more than four participating schools.
She continued to Ekurhuleni trials, where three districts competed and 30 players were selected for Gauteng trials.
The final selection process included a squad of 70 players, which was narrowed down to a team of 20, with Van der Westhuizen earning her place on the Gauteng U12 side.
