I’m writing this on behalf of all pets as they don’t have a voice to speak out.

How uneducated must people still be today to leave animals in their vehicles baking in the hot afternoon sun with no windows open?

A pet is not much different than a child and I’m sure those owners wouldn’t leave their child locked in a vehicle, even if it was supposedly only for a short period of time.

My husband and I were sitting having a meal at a cafe at one of the shopping centres just off Atlas Road when we noticed a white poodle in a silver Subaru RS with not one window open.

We were hot sitting in the shade, so how must that poor dog have suffered in a suffocating hot vehicle? Another couple behind us also noticed this as we have been sitting there for at least 15 minutes, getting really concerned about the dog and still no sign of the owners.

Walking around trying to find the owners in both the cafe and the grocer, the owners finally came strolling out with a trolley full of groceries. I approached them about their dog and they suddenly became extremely defensive and rude about it.

I got called all sorts of names, sworn at, told that they weren’t gone for hours and apparently their dog lives a better life than what we do. I really wonder how true that must be when supposedly educated people like these owners leave their dog locked in a car with no windows open.
