Reload premieres at Bonaero Park church

The film will be released in Crosskine theaters across the country on July 5

THE premiere of the film, Reload, was held at the Christian Family Church on Atlas Road on June 1, and will be released in Crosskine theaters across the country on July 5.

The film was directed and written by the famous Carien Botha, also known as Blapsie in the hilarious TV show “Mollie en Wors”.

“I’ve never been into the screenwriting and directing part of films, but it’s something I enjoy very much, being behind the cameras for a change,” she said.

Reload is a movie based on the true story of Francois de Jager, a young man who grew up with an alcoholic father and an unfaithful mother.

His upbringing in an unstable home and his parent’s divorce left him empty and confused.

His search for meaning in life, acceptance and a way to fill the void had him heading down the same road as his father.

He turned to smoking, alcohol and drug abuse and was sexually promiscuous, often with violent outcomes.

Francois’s involvement in a violent gang nearly cost him his freedom and without friends, family and loved ones, he was left homeless.

His only company was the drug addicts whom he shared the streets with.

A young couple took him under their wing, but their failed efforts to rehabilitate him, lead them to take him to church.

From that moment on, his life was turned around and he, in turn, starting sharing the gospel through his ministry and Reload Youth conferences.

“As an ex-drug addict years ago, it makes me feel and realise what these people go through every day. I remember the loneliness, pain confusion and rejection. The more I sought the solution in drugs and alcohol, the more I found destruction. I have dedicated my life to preaching the gospel and evangelism ,and I’m hungry for souls to be saved and be converted to Jesus,” says de Jager.

Francois Viljoen plays the role of de Jager in the film and some of the other actors are Ingrid Hoffman (Francois’s mother), Hanlo Meyer (Francois junior) and Dirk Stoltz (Francois’s father).
