AFTER a captivating show in May, South Africa’s beloved Liewe Heksie is back by popular demand at Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre on July 25 at 11am.
The show, which includes the stories of Liewe Heksie en die Tuindwergie and Liewe Heksie en Botterblom, is produced by Lefra Productions.
“Liewe Heksie has always been close to the heart of Lefra Productions,” said director Frans Swart, who worked as a cameraman on the set of the popular Liewe Heksie television series.
According to Swart, Verna Vels always wanted Liewe Heksie to meet a garden gnome, and he told her he would love to see what Liewe Heksie would do if she did.
That is how the idea for Liewe Heksie en die Tuindwergie was born. Vels wrote the story shortly before she passed away.
In addition to Liewe Heksie en die Tuindwergie, the young audience will also get to watch another brand new story, Liewe Heksie en Botterblom. Botterblom is the “Blommeland” cow who provides milk for everyone in the land.
In this charming theatre show, she is very angry because somebody is keeping everyone away from her and she becomes lonely.
As always, there is a talented cast of performers who play out the stories on stage, with beautiful costumes and sets to make the stories more vivid for young people.
Ana van Achterbergh plays the role of Liewe Heksie, Botha Enslin the role of Mattewis, Kwaaitjie Kabouter, the Geelheks, Borrie the Gifappeltjie, Griet, Karel Kat, Botterblom and Koning Rosekrans.
Anel du Plessis plays Blommie, Kerrie the Gifappeltjie and Koning Rosekrans. Phillru van Achterbergh plays Casper, the Tuindwergie, Borrie the Gifappeltjie, Karring and Klein Kwaaitjie.
Tickets can be booked through Computicket. Group and school bookings can be made by contacting Lefra Productions on 011-815-3000 or by emailing admin@lefra.com.
