National Boerewors Competition enters the Champion Round stages

The annual Championship Boerewors Competition will commence with the Champion Round stages on Saturdays July 11 and 18.
The six rounds will see over 650 recipes braaied nationwide to find South Africa’s top 18 boerewors recipes. These recipes will contend for the grand prize of being crowned the Championship Boerewors winner for 2015 and a Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body L45.
The Gauteng Champion Round will be held in Centurion on July 11 and 18 at the Shoprite Checkers Office Park. The public are invited to join in to show their support. The round winners will be announced around 2pm. Besides the sizzling excitement of the competition the day will be hosted by well-known South African actor, David Vlok, with fun activities for the whole family like face painting, a jumping castle and entertainment from the sponsors, Coca Cola, Simba and All Gold.
This year has seen the format of the competition change and for the first time ever the public will vote for the winner during a top 3 showdown. The South African Chefs Association (SACA), a recognised authority on food in South Africa, takes charge of the judging processes and makes sure that all entries adhere to the guidelines for making truly traditional boerewors.
