Songbird Nianell to perform here
Tickets for the show cost R190 and R170 for Friends of the Library
THE Friends of the Kempton Park Libraries will host a performance by popular singer Nianell on October 30.
The performance will take place at Wynand Marais Community Centre in Birchleigh from 7pm for 7.30pm.
Tickets for the show cost R190 and R170 for Friends of the Library. Tickets can be obtained from Birchleigh and Bonaearo Park libraries.
Sherry will be served before the show. Afterwards there will be CDs on sale and tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks will be provided.
The Friends of the Kempton Park Libraries are a group of dedicated people that throughout each year have projects like the above and various others to raise funds. Last year a hand stitched double bed quilt was made and tickets to the amount of R13 100 were sold.
The group also has several workshops like card making, networking and genealogy.
Since its inception 15 years ago, the organisation has raised R700 000, which was distributed in the form of books, to local libraries. Membership fees and the sale of second-hand books also contribute to this worthy cause.
Each year they aim to raise about R60 000 which is distributed to the libraries.
