Local gospel choir shoots music video
Tembisa Gospel Group is determined to put Tembisa talent on world stages.
Tembisa Gospel Group shot a music video at Peniel Praise Centre on December 11.
The group’s founder, Thulani Ndlovu, said Tembisa Gospel Group was established in 2012 and was initially known as Total Praise and Worship.
“We later decided to adopt a name that is reflective of where the group is from and a name that will allow us to be ambassadors of Tembisa. We therefore named it Tembisa Gospel Group.
“The group was set up in order to preach and minister the word of God through music.

“The group’s future plans include running its own music academy, building a home for the needy, managing other artists and being involved in various socially responsible activities,” said Ndlovu.
He said the group is comprised of a handful of composers who contributed to their debut album, titled Total Praise and Worship Vol. 1, in July 2017. The album consists of eight original songs, and their sound is contemporary gospel ranging from easy but soul-moving worship songs like the title track and Semphethe to the more up-tempo praise choruses such as Komelela and Kakaramba.
“Our album release has seen the group performing at various events and churches.
“We recently performed in Brits and Winnie Mandela, where Tembisa Gospel Group received a lot of love from their fans. This is just the beginning for the Tembisa-based gospel outfit.
“On Monday night, December 11, the group recorded their first video, titled Semphethe.
“Semphethe is their first single off the album. It is a beautiful gospel ballad that has the potential to become one of the best hymns of our time. The video was shot live on stage at Peniel Praise Centre in Ntshonalanga.”
The video, directed by Siyabonga Mfezane, will be available in time for Christmas. For more information contact Thulani Ndlovu on 072 556 4159 or email Tembisagospelgroup91@gmail.com
