Limpopo RNB artist to shine in Johannesburg.
When a majority of young people find solace in hip-hop to express their struggles of unemployment and poverty, a young man from Limpopo took a different path.
Hlopheka Wilson Baloi, also known as D-Trix, is an RnB artist whose musical journey began in a church choir at a tender age.
He believes he is the first RnB artist to ever come out of Lephalale in pursuit of fame in Johannesburg.
D-Trix settled in Tembisa where he began to sell himself as an artist and creating networks among his peers.
“My first album, titled My Life, was released in January 2017 and it is also one of my well-known songs. It was inspired by my own life challenges.
“It is the song that made me well-known and it earned me an opportunity to join a record label called Mat Music Production.
“As a result, I was privileged to showcase my album at a Metro FM studio interview,” said D-Trix.
He said I don’t care from the first album became a hit song because he believes his fans can relate to it.
“My first album continues to inspire people from my hometown and I started to perform at local municipal events at Seleka Village, local clubs in my hometown and became a frequent feature on local radio stations playlists.
“During 2017 I had an opportunity to perform in Rustenburg and my album My Life gained a hit status across Limpopo,” D-Trix proudly remembers.
In June 2018 he released a single called Pretty Mama which, he said, will surely amaze many Tembisa RnB lovers as it became a hit song in a short period of time.
“I managed to meet new and upcoming Tembisa artists like me and we worked together on the song. It was easy because we inspired one another to grow in this music industry.”
Although his name continues to grow in Johannesburg and his hometown, it is not here that he is destined to become a superstar. He said he still has the ambition to take his music beyond the borders of South Africa and expand his fan base across the globe.
