Gospel dad releases his sixth album

For the past 10 years he has been producing his own beats and writing his own lyrics

Local gospel singer David Size (31) released his sixth studio album titled Jesu Ngaarumbidzwe, which means “Let’s praise Jesus”, on January 18

David grew up in a town in Bindura, Zimbabwe with his parents, three brothers and four sisters. His musical journey started in 2001 when he was in an Afro-fusion group.

He ventured into gospel in 2009 and in 2012 he moved to South Africa to pursue his musical dream.

“For the past 10 years I have been producing my own beats and writing my own lyrics,” said David. “I play the keyboard/piano, the guitar and bass guitar, and I also play the drums.”

The Kempton Park CBD resident owns a studio and production company called Size Music Productions.

“I am still growing my production company and being an independent artist is a start. I have worked with 34 artists at my studio, producing beats for them and sometimes writing their music,” continued Size.

The father of two started working on his album in July last year and has not looked back because he wanted to release the album at the beginning of the new year.

“I am greatly inspired by Benjamin Dube and Vuyo Mokoena, two artists who were very talented. Although they have died, their music lives. That is what keeps me going,” he said.

“My family and friends support me in every way they can and I would like to thank them for that. I am grateful for my wife and my children who always remind me why I am doing what I am doing.”

Size has shared a stage with big artists like Michael Mahendere from Joyous Celebration and looks forward to making music with gospel groups like Spirit of Praise and Joyous Celebration.

His album is available on iTunes, SoundCloud and, upon request, on CD,” he said.
