Annual Ingoma Music and Dance theatre production to dazzle art lovers
The City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with iAfrika Theatre Education, set the stage for annual Ingoma Music and Dance theatre production.
The City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with iAfrika Theatre Education, will, on March 9, set the Germiston Theatre stage alight during the annual Ingoma Music and Dance theatre production.
Spokesperson Themba Gadebe said art lovers will be treated to electrifying scenes of traditional dance, gumboot dance, pantsula and modern dance throughout the two-hour-long musical show.
“Well-known guru in the arts industry Siphiwe Nkosi of favourite telenovela Isibaya will be the narrator of this theatre production,” said Gadebe.
“The Ingoma Music and Dance theatre production is written and directed by John Lata, an art industry great, armed with more than 35 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He wears many caps as actor, writer, director, producer and composer.”
“Forming part of the cast on the day will be the commissioned group, Mazibuyel’ Emasisweni, also known as Taxido, which, over the years, has won international awards,” explained Gadebe.
Five art groups from across the city, having excelled during the city-wide auditions, were selected to form part of the musical production. Besides earning a spot in the cast, each group receive R20 000.
