International film festival soon in Springs

A selection committee, which has viewed over 2 000 short films, has chosen a selection of films to be screened at the festival.

The third instalment of the Ekurhuleni International Film Festival (EIFF) runs from June 20 to June 23 at the Springs Theatre.

The City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with Rhythm Cycles, host the festival to empower local and international filmmakers by providing them with film-making skills and creating networking opportunities with local and international broadcasters.

“The film industry is part of the development of creative industries,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gabede.

As such, screenings and workshops will be hosted during the schedule of the festival.

A selection committee, which has viewed over 2 000 short films, has chosen a selection of films to be screened at the festival. The final award ceremony is on June 23 at the theatre starting at 6pm.

June 20: Film screenings from 10am to 9pm.

June 21: Film and TV business workshop from 10am to 11am.

June 21: Scriptwriting workshop (WGSA) from 1pm to 2pm.

June 21: Licensing workshop (eTV) from 2pm to 3pm.

June 21: GFC (Gauteng Film Commission), funding seminar from 3pm to 4pm.

June 21: Film screenings from 5pm to 7pm.

June 22: Film and TV classification master class 10am to 11am. (Film and Publication Board).

June 22: Editing workshop (SAGE) from 1pm to 2pm.

June 22: Licensing workshop (MNET) from 2pm to 3pm.

June 22: TV content commissioning seminar from 3pm to 4pm. (SABC and eTV).

June 22: Film screenings from 5pm to 7pm.
