Method R9 from Ivory Park releases new album
Method R9 releases new album for the music lovers.
Rafael ‘Method R9’ Dlamini (22), a hip-hop artist from Ivory Park Extension 15, hopes to give his fans a taste of his new album, IVP, released in May.
The youngstar believes his music can change lives. In 2017, he released a mixtape titled Fearless But Not Brave, which he says was welcomed, even in Pretoria. On July 27, he will perform tracks from his new album for the first time on stage at the OG Night Pre-show.
Dlamini said IVP is an album for all with different elements fused together, dedicated to every music lover.
“From a young age I listened to Tupac, The Notorious BIG, Zola, Mandoza and Hugh Masikela. This album also contains a love song,” said Rafael.
“People can expect jazz, R&B, soul and hip-hop elements, to accommodate everyone.”
Rafael attended Ivory Park Secondary School and completed matric in 2015. In 2016, he took a gap year to decide at which learning institution he wants to study and focused on music. He enrolled at Tshwane University of Technology in 2017 to study fine arts.
According to him, his passion lies within entertainment, be it comedy, art, music acting or theater.
His mixtape was inspired by J Cole and motivated by his friend, Thando Mokoena, who produced the mixtape.
Fearless But Not Brave features songs like Victim, Ghetto Child and Hello, a tribute to his late mother about his dreams and hopes.
“The mixtape highlights the life of a young man from the hood who has big dreams of making it in the music industry. It also highlights some of the struggles the youth in townships face, like drugs, teenage pregnancy, unemployment and poverty,” said Rafael.
On July 27, he will perform at the OG Nights Pre-show at Miami Lounge (Banele’s Tavern) next to Ma-Afrika, alongside J Flowz, Sleek Tafeni and The Other Guyz.
