Wonder Mabilane has faith to win Ivory Park hip hop awards
The song ‘Mama’ was nominated as the most valuable rapping sound
Hip Hop artist Wonder Mabilane, also known by the stage name Young G, is making a plea to the community to vote for him as he enters the Ivory Park Hip Hop Awards to be held on 31 August.
Born in Nelspruit, Young G moved to Bushbuckridge at an early age, and later relocated to Ivory Park in search of greener pastures. He was in search of an environment that would enable him to follow his dream.
Mabilane is presently working on his first mixtape titled Road to the promised land, which has four singles which saw one of them, ‘The Realest’, nominated on the LYD Awards last year in Durban.
This year, the other two singles – ‘The Realist’ and ‘Mama’- were nominated for the Ivory Park Awards.
“The song ‘Mama’ was nominated as the most valuable rapping sound and ‘The Realest’ because of the best collaboration it had with Cheddar P,” said Mabilane.
Mabilane said he has collaborated with various artists including Jungle life, Cheddar P, Eileen, to mention a few.
Age 27, the graphic designer and entrepreneur, Mabilane says his rapping career was inspired by the likes of 50cent, DMX, Dr Dree, among others.
“I am into the old rap. A guy called DJ Crux gave me my first studio time while still living n Bushbuckridge with the neighbouring boys. We used to be called BMG (Babe Magnets Gang) until growth separated us,” said Mabilane.
