Ivory Park’s OG Flowz expresses his feelings in new single
'I reminded myself that I truly miss my mom, which is a touchy subject'
Mphela ‘OG Flowz’ Ntsoane, a hip-hop artist from Ivory Park Extension 15, released his single Youz A God in early November.
The artist first released his mixtape in 2017 titled OG Flowz Mixtape. With this new single, he hopes to make a strong comeback.
OG Flowz says the song speaks about how much he misses his late mother, friends, and fellow artists such as Sleek Tafeni.
“The song stands to remind people of who they are, things that should really matter to them, and the strength each one possesses to make a difference in their everyday life,” said OG Flowz.
“Through expressing myself on the mic, I reminded myself that I truly miss my mom, which is a touchy subject that is even expressed in the mixtape in the first song.
“To me, it’s like the boys I grew up with breath inspiration to me. Coming to think of it, through the song, I also express the question of ‘who is a god’ because to me, the boys in the hood are the ‘gods’ in the music career I am trying to pursue. Looking at their current achievements, they are the main guys.”
The song further tackles some of the social issues the youth face. Through this song, OG Flowz confirms that he had a lot to express in his upcoming EP, which will be released in early 2020.
“Going to the studio, I get to think of a lot to tell, but every song must have its concept. At times, you swallow other things and tell the rest.
“The next EP, Losing My Mind, is actually named after the emotional state I find myself in when recording. “When writing songs, I tend to forget my surrounding to connect with my inner feelings and through that form of expression, I am able to heal my wounds,” said OG Flowz.
