Ivory Park’s Suffocate released his first EP
'My aim is to chase my goals and follow my dreams.'
Suffocate releases his first EP ‘If I Blow’, following his well-received debut single I.V.P which was released last year.
The 22-year-old entrepreneur and musician aims to share his dreams through music and hopes to motivate others along the way. The seven songs in his EP tell a story of a young man from the streets of Ivory Park who is a dream chaser and never gives up. The EP was released on February 26.
Suffocate, whose real name is Mahlatse Moswede, said the EP was inspired by the youth of his surroundings who gave up on their dreams because their dreams took long to come true.
“My aim is to chase my goals and follow my dreams, while inspiring and motivating other young people around me and beyond. Young artists must believe that anything is possible.
“I need to make sure that my peers appreciate my music and that I make sure that I represent my neighbourhood. There are few celebrities from Ivory Park and that can be discouraging,” said Suffocate.
“The first track is titled If I Blow and it tells a story of how life will be when I rise. The third song, behind the lights adds that I aim to be behind the lights of every stage possible. Once on stage, it will be ‘Me and You’, which is the fourth song from the EP. Places, the fifth song, talks about me going places once I achieve my music goals.
“I featured my musical mentor, Fiks Joy, in my sixth song titled One Moment.
“The EP concludes with ‘Good life’, every young person’s dream,” said Suffocate.
