“The introduction of fresh talent means a space for innovation is created, thus expanding what was initially a small pie, and not the opposite as some incorrectly believe, into a much larger pie.

“The industry needs to constantly grow and change, allowing sectors for more jobs to be created. In saying this, it still has room for improvement and hopefully one of the rapidly thriving industries,” said Tshabalala.

Getting to know the multi-talented Kemptonian

“I love stories that unite people, real authentic stories. Different cultures fascinate me as well as historical documentaries, stories that teach culture, how certain individuals do things, animal behaviour as well and science fiction.

“I’ve got an eye for art and that is why I’m always looking for inspiration. If my inner voice says ‘why don’t you note that down’ I immediately do so in my tiny notebook. When I review my notes I realise a story has been written.”

Being true to himself is important and he always aims to be objective by placing himself in another’s shoes.

“I aim to understand another’s motives and identify how I would react. We all make decisions based on our experiences. So whenever I build a character I look where the character comes from.”

He described sharing valuable knowledge with the mass media through entertainment and art as “beautiful”.

“Self-discovery is also important. One day I hope to see myself being invited for a Grammy, to represent Africa. I dream of uniting Africa as one through storytelling, I see myself building Hollywood in Africa,” said Tshabalala.
