More than 800 smiles

Staff members from Harcourts Rhino paid Lewisham Primary a visit and gave them tons of goodies.

Over 800 children of Lewisham Primary walked had smiles on their faces on 18 July in celebration of former President Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday.

About 32 staff members of Harcourts Rhino Real Estates from Helderkruin in Roodepoort paid this school a visit and gave each child from Grade R to 7 something to take home and to enjoy while at school.

It is a good feeling to know that the school is still appreciated and that makes us want to work even harder to show our appreciation.

Mauro Mosca, the real estates principal says that they decided on this school as they identified it as a school in the community that needed assistance.

“This is central to our working area and we decided that we want to help put smiles on the children’s faces by giving them something they need.”

Each child received a gift pack consisting of basic essentials such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap paper, a washcloth, a packet full of sweets, chips, biscuits and a cold drink.

Mauro says that all the extras will be left at the school, who will redistribute it accordingly.

School principal Derek Boshoff says it is pleasing to know that there are still people who care about other people and that their school is noticed.

“It is a good feeling to know that the school is still appreciated and that makes us want to work even harder to show our appreciation.”

The school and the children each gave their own 67 minutes by cleaning up litter from the school ground and the immediate areas around the school.

Mauro says he wants to wish Madiba a speedy recovery.

“He is an inspiration to the country and a real legend. His values and spirit always will live on through the people of South Africa.”
