Stray hippo spotted?

Social media platforms are abuzz with news of a stray hippo in the Muldersdrift area.

Reports are doing the rounds about an alleged stray hippo in the Muldersdrift area.

Social media platforms such as twitter have been buzzing with this news since the early hours of 13 August, causing Muldersdrift to be the popular subject on this social media platform.

@massenyaare joked that the hippo is finding insurance quotes, referring to the popular insurance comparison company hippo.co.za, where the hippo finds insurance quotes that fits its client’s profile.

No pictures or information leading to the hippo is available yet.

Last year a hippo belonging to Alex Richter, owner of Aloe Ridge Hotel, was shot in the head at point blank range and killed on 28 November.

David Bain from Brookwood Trout Farm in Muldersdrift told the NEWS last year that they waited until the last minute of their shooting permit, which was supplied by Nature Conservation, to shoot the animal as it allegedly was bad for business since it roamed the area for over a year.

If the reports are true, is still unclear to whom the animal belongs to.

The NEWS will give an update once more information becomes available.
