Wine and whiskey thieves arrested

Three housebreaking suspects were stopped in their tracks.

Three housebreaking suspects between the ages of 30 and 32 years old were arrested following a high-speed chase on Impala Road under way to Soweto.

According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Constable Tshepiso Mashale, police were alerted over their two-radio system that the men driving a grey Nissan Sentra had just broken into a house in Kenmare.

“Officers noticed a vehicle fitting the description on Impala Road and signalled the driver to pull over, but the driver instead increased speed.

“Officers gave chase until the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a pavement.”

According to Mashale the suspects attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by police.

Searching the vehicle, police came across a number of stolen goods, which included plasma TVs, cellphones, jewellery, cameras and collector items of whiskeys and wines.

The goods were estimated to be worth approximately R50 000.

The suspects were arrested for being in possession of stolen goods, housebreaking and theft and was taken to the Krugersdorp Police Station where they are being detained.
