World Aids Day commemorated
It created an opportunity for offenders to add their voice to other people who suffers from the disease.
The Krugersdorp Correctional Services together with various stakeholders commemorated World Aids Day (1 December) with the aim of creating an opportunity for offenders to voice their opinions in a bid to unite people from around the world in the fight against HIV and Aids.
Daleen Kruger from the Correctional Services says it also was held to show their support for those living with the disease and to commemorate the lives of those who have passed.
“The event was used to instil the message of World Aids Day of Zero Stigma and Discrimination.”
This theme carried three messages that were shared with the attendees of the event: zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero Aids-related deaths.
“Offenders were encouraged to test themselves to know their status and the services offered by the Bophelong Wellness Clinic was promoted,” concludes Daleen.
