Mogale FM sculpting dreams

Mogale FM 93.6 wants to give its community the chance to become successful.

A new radio station on the West Rand is promising to bring content relevant to their community.

Mogale FM 93.6 that launched online last year and has been on the airwaves since the beginning of March this year hopes not only to entertain and inform its listeners, but also to educate them in important but relevant matters.

Patrick Raikatisho, one of the founding members and the station manager of Mogale FM told the NEWS that the radio station is going from strength to strength and was awarded a five-year licence by Icasa to broadcast in Krugersdorp and its immediate surroundings.

“We are experiencing some difficulties with our signal as we are waiting for Sentech to carry our signal over the airwaves,” explains Patrick.

“While we are waiting, we have decided to use our own broadcast transmitter and so far we are getting loads of feedback from listeners indicating that we are doing well.”

Mogale FM currently boast about 30 presenters, all of them giving up their time voluntarily to make the station one of the best radio stations in the west of Gauteng.

“All of them have a love of and passion for radio and that is the reason why the idea to start a radio station formed in 2008.”

He says that so many, just like him, always have had the dream to be a radio presenter, but that they never had been given the opportunity to live that dream somewhere else.

“The West Rand has a lot of radio talent, it just needs to be discovered and honed,” says Patrick who also has his own show on the station.

“This station is the perfect opportunity for radio enthusiasts to grow and become presenters to be proud of, as they now can get the exposure that they have been deprived of.”

Keogile Matlholoe and Cinthia Seleke, radio presenters for the mid-morning show between 9am and 12pm says that Mogale FM helps them to achieve their dreams.

“Being on radio is something that I have always wanted to do and now I get the opportunity not only to live my dream but I also can have an impact on so many lives,” says Keogile.

Cinthia says that the station is helping her to grow into becoming a better presenter so that, when the day comes, she will be able to use those skills somewhere else.

Patrick says that he can’t take the credit for the success the station has achieved in the last few years.

“I would like to thank everyone that have been involved with the station.”

He would like to thank Segware Rapolai, Sifiso Mzolo, Dan Musia, Truly Mokebe, Mokutu Moe Ketsi and Trevor Boqo for their contribution.
