Risen from the ashes
The Recreation Africa group announced the opening of the new reception at their flagship hotel Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre and Spa.
Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa officially launched its new reception area late in May.
Last year in June the hotel’s reception was ravaged by fire and the CEO, Adele Forsyth mustered her team and had a temporary reception up and working by the end of that day.
Architect Nico Wessels was commissioned to redesign the reception building and come up with a concept that would be both breath-taking and trend-setting.

Master sculptor Adam Madebe was commissioned to create a bigger-than-life statue of Dr David Livingstone in bronze. This celebrates the 200-year anniversary of his birth.
The new reception has been filled with local art and the first floor hosts a gallery of ornithological paintings in line with management’s commitment to promoting Birdlife South Africa as one of its causes.

Leading off this gallery is a verandah and bird-watching walkway that overlook a large water feature and indigenous gardens. Two areas have been dedicated to rooftop gardens and planted to attract bird life.
Misty Hills continues to evolve.
