Budget speech sets out plans for Mogale

The total expenditure for this financial year has been appropriated at R2 370 407 billion.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Executive Mayor Koketso Calvin Seerane recently tabled the 2014/2015 budget.

During this presentation he referred to the 2014 State of the City Address where he mentioned the hard work the municipality do to continue delivering on its mandate to tackle the challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality.

Seerane says the total operating expenditure for the 2014/2015 financial year has been appropriated at R2 370 407 billion.

An amount of R18,3 million was allocated to the construction of roads and the storm water network in Muldersdrift. A further R2 million will be used for the installation of new traffic lights, streetlights and high mast lights in Muldersdrift along Beyers Naudé and towards Nooitgedacht, which is the site of a new development to be called Refentse Township.

“We will spend R5,6 million on road construction in the western rural areas and have set aside R3,5 million on new streetlights for Ga-Mogale Township.”

The municipality indicated they will be spending R8 million over the next two years to illuminate the K13 road, which euphemistically is referred to as the New Road in Kagiso.

Close to R95 million will be spent this financial year on energy infrastructure that will include smart meter conversion in Munsieville. The other projects are the upgrade of Condale Substation as well as improving firm supply for the industrial parks of Boltonia and Chamdor.

An amount of R32 million will be spent on replacing pre-payment water meters as well as refurbishing and replacing water infrastructure in the areas of Krugersdorp, Mindalore, Kagiso Extension 13 and Munsieville among others.
