Traditional outfits brighten up police station

Music, dance and traditional food were on offer.

Members from the Krugersdorp SAPS Women’s Network dressed up for work in traditional attire on Tuesday 23 September to celebrate Heritage Day.

“The aim of the day was to bring people at the Krugersdorp Police Station together and to celebrate the different cultures and diversity of its employees,” says Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale.

Food true to South Africa’s different tribes such as ting, stamp, mala le mogodu, home baked bread and morogo were prepared to be enjoyed on the day. Beverages on offer included African and ginger beer.

“Employees learned a lot about the culture of those they work with and gain some insight into their values and beliefs,” says Mashale.

The day ended on a high note when some sang traditional songs and showed off dance moves true to the different tribes and cultures.
