No suspects have been arrested for the malicious damage to property at the Krugersdorp Post Office Mail Centre.

According to police approximately 150 striking Post Office employees attacked working employees and caused damage to the building in Second Street, Factoria.

Appel Ernst, a police spokesperson says Post Office trucks as well as the building were stoned and damaged.

“One truck also was damaged due to a fire in the cab,” she says.

“Employees who were inside the premises were stoned and assaulted during the incident.”

Ernst says three employees were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Private vehicles that were parked in the vicinity also were damaged during the attack.

Police members are deployed in the area to control the situation.

The Post Office workers are on strike, demanding that casual workers be employed on a permanent basis.
