How to contact the municipality
Local resident may have just discovered the direct line to the municipality which could solve hundreds of headaches.
After holding on for what seemed like hours and being referred from one number to the next, this local resident believes she has found the trick to getting hold of someone/ anyone at the municipality.
Last month, Natie Swanepoel discovered a blocked manhole outside her business, and tried to contact the municipality.
This was just after the latest Yellow Pages book was delivered to households across Krugersdorp.
When she opened the book, she saw the emergency numbers of the municipality printed on the inside of the front cover.
She phoned the first number, which is the customer care number, but an agent informed her it was not the department she was looking for and referred her to another number. This number rang until the line eventually died.
She then phoned the emergencies and queries number again, and was referred to a second department, where she was also told they do not deal with manholes. The number once again rang until it was cut off.
For the third time, she phoned the emergencies and queries number, and was referred to yet another department – where she was referred back to the customer care number.
“In total, I phoned six different numbers, All of them claimed manhole issues didn’t fall under their department, so it wasn’t their problem,” a frustrated Natie explained.
She then tried her luck and dialed the Executive Mayor’s office number, which is also printed in the Yellow Pages and to her surprise, found she was making progress.
Within a matter of two hours, workers from the Mogale City Municipality had responded to her complaint and resolved it.
“I am telling you, next time you need to get a hold of the municipality, phone the Mayor’s office,” she advised the community.
