What you need to know before you leave your mark
If you are one of the registered voters in the West Rand, arm yourself with information before heading to the polls.
On Wednesday, 3 August, people all over our country will be voting in the municipal elections, and the West Rand is no different.
Of the 26,3 million voters on the Voters Roll, 429 724 are from the West Rand.
If you’re part of that number, then you can arm yourself with some information before heading to the polls:
– Make sure you vote in the voting district in which you are registered.
– If you have applied for a special vote, election dates are 1 and 2 August, from 8am to 5pm, at the voting station in which you are registered.
– Certain registered special voters who are unable to get to the voting station due will be visited at home by election officials, so that they can cast their votes.
– Taking photos of yourself or any documents in the voting station is against the law, and is punishable by a fine and/ or imprisonment.
– SMS your ID number to 32810 or dial *120*432# to confirm your voting station.
– On election day, voting hours are from 7am to 7pm.
