John Moodey, DA leader for Gauteng, has announced that no senior positions, especially those of municipal managers and heads of departments, will be given to party members in Mogale City.
He said the new recruitment process must be transparent and open to the individuals who are most competent to ensure the city moves forward. Suitably qualified individuals will be appointed, and only those who can fulfill the responsibilities of the office must be employed. “It is vital that residents receive quality services, on time and in a dignified manner,” Moodey said.
“This can only be done when competent staff are employed to serve the people of the Metros we govern. Cadre deployment will not be the order of the day, unlike in the time of our predecessors.”
Moodey went on to say that much work needs to be done to uplift the lives of people in Mogale City. “All recruitment processes will be open, inclusive and transparent. Public scrutiny will be welcome.”
Mogale City was taken over by the DA after this year’s municipal elections and changes are yet to be seen. Moodey also said that this new employment procedure will be initiated in all DA-controlled municipalities, including Johannesburg and Tshwane.
